Extensive experience in project management, planning, logistics, business reform and procurement.
After voluntarily separating from the police service in 2013, I worked for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and more recently the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation. In both cases I led teams that completed comprehensive vulnerability and risk assessments, developed strategic and operational plans and procured both the human and physical resources necessary to deliver secure and safe events.
During my tenure with the Queensland Police Service (30 years service) I served in a variety of functions and locations throughout the State of Queensland, including: Redcliffe, Jericho, Maryborough, Toowoomba, Metropolitan North Region, Office of the Commissioner, Metropolitan South Region, Ethical Standards Command and Operations Support Command. In 2013, I was awarded the Commissioner’s Meritorious Service Medal (QPS).
Whilst a serving police officer, I had the privilege of completing two tours of duty in East Timor, on the first occasion as a United Nations Police Technical Advisor in 2003 and on the second occasion in 2006 as a Superintendent seconded to the Australian Federal Police as Planning and Operations Coordinator.
I have a proven ability in the management of large complex projects that involve the formation of multi-disciplinary teams and the management of complex relationships.
My career profile and career highlights will also show that I have proven experience in business process redesign, reform and change.
In 2015, I attended the United Kingdom College of Policing and a completed the Counter Terrorism Security Coordinators Course. The learning’s gained through this course were practically applied to procure and deploy the most comprehensive hostile vehicle mitigation overlay in Australian event history at the 2018 Commonwealth games.
